FBC Faculty and Staff Celebrate Year-End Fellowship at Lakawon Island
June 28 marked a memorable close to the academic year for the faculty and staff of Fellowship Baptist College as they set out early morning for a well-deserved retreat to Lakawon Island. Dubbed "Lakaw 'ta sa Lakawon," the activity gathered over 130 employees in a day filled with joy, worship, and meaningful conversations.
The event served as a breather from the rigors of school life and a celebration of the strength and unity of the FBC family. Upon arrival at the island, the community was welcomed with warm fellowship and light snacks, followed by team-building activities that brought departments together in laughter and friendly competition. The beachfront became a space not only for games but also for bonding among colleagues from various units.
At the heart of the day was a solemn time of corporate worship, where employees paused to reflect on the goodness of God throughout the year. It was a sacred moment that reminded everyone that behind the deadlines and daily responsibilities is a shared calling to serve with faith and excellence.
A hearty island lunch followed, and the rest of the afternoon gave way to relaxation, beach strolls, and optional water activities. As the sun dipped lower, the group returned to the mainland and traveled to Bacolod City for a thanksgiving dinner. There, stories continued, gratitude was expressed, and closing messages reminded everyone that what binds the institution together is more than work—it is shared purpose.
The HRDO extends heartfelt thanks to the Board of Trustees, especially Chairman Cesar O. Artesano and Secretary Roger R. Gasataya, for their full support and presence during the trip. Sincere appreciation is also given to the Local Government of Kabankalan, under the leadership of Mayor Benjie Miranda, for generously providing transport services and fuel assistance.
The success of this event would not have been possible without the cooperation of the College Administration, Accounting Office, General Services Office, Campus Ministry, Quality Assurance, Research Office, and all the designated persons-in-charge and drivers who ensured everyone’s safety and comfort.
More than just a getaway, the year-end fellowship became a testimony of unity, gratitude, and the enduring presence of God in the life of the institution. As the school looks ahead to another academic year, the memories from Lakawon serve as a reminder that the strength of FBC lies not just in its programs and plans, but in the people who make the journey together.
To God be all the glory!
