In response to the devastating effects of #TinoPH, the Fellowship Baptist College (FBC) Reserve Officersโ Training Corps (ROTC) army reservists joined the cityโs relief operations held at the DRRM Rescue Center in Barangay 4, Kabankalan City. The initiative was organized by the 605th Ready Reserved Infantry Battalion (RRIBN), under the leadership of LTC Mercedes K. Alvarez, MNSA (RES) PA at the same time our very active Congresswoman of the 6th District, City Mayor Benjie Miranda, and CSWD Head Maโam Cyril Ramos.
The FBC delegation supervised by the 605th Community Defense Center director, COL DON L VILLANUEVAT(GSC) PA are 1LT ODESSA L FAIRBANKS (RES) PA, Assistant Commandant; Sgt. Rogaciano V Arib Jr. (Inf) PA, Admin NCO; Sgt Shermin Tadeo (Res) PA; Cpl Yzra Jenel Unice D Triรฑo (Res) PA Pvt Larry June R Tangeres (Res); PA Pvt John Paul M Engallado (Res) PA ; Pvt Jielyn V Sarucam (Res) PA; Pvt. Cris Jean S Orbisayan (Res) PA; Pvt Kian Charles Orteza (Res) PA; Pvt John Ellery T Rojo(Res) PA; (Res) PA; Pvt Teo Ralph V Alimane (Res) PA; Pvt Art Ceasar B Lacson (Res) PA.
During the operations, the team worked hand in hand with local authorities under the administration of Mayor Benjie Miranda and volunteers to provide immediate aid to affected residents. According to the FBC team, โEach have a designated workโCSWD heam Maam Cyril Ramos and personnel are busy monitoring the back and forth delivery of goods and accounting the number of casualties caused by Bagyong Tino. 605th RRIBN, 15IB (MOLAVE WARRIOR), 94IB and 62IB Philippine Army, on the other hand, are assigned to repacking, unloading and loading the relief boxes on the DRRM trucks, while DRRM personnel are the ones who monitor the weather and provide aid to the victims of Bagyong Tino.โ
Citizens who wish to extend their help can donate relief goods through the Local Government Unit (LGU), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), or Philippine Red Cross. Donations are also being accepted by various private groups such as the Kabankalan Eagles Club (KEC) Kabankalan Lady Eagles Group (KLEG), APO, Tau Gamma Phi, and other civic organizations.
When asked about future relief efforts, the FBC team expressed their readiness to continue serving: โYes! Anytime the city needs manpower in assisting the relief operation, we are happy to serve.โ
The relief efforts highlight the spirit of unity and volunteerism among the people of Kabankalan City as they work together to rebuild and recover from the aftermath of Typhoon Tino.
