COLLEGE NEWS | BSMT students hold Blood Donation Activity

“One donation, endless impact.”
In fulfillment of the MT 323 – Blood Banking requirement, Fellowship Baptist College's Level III Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology (BSMT) students successfully conducted a bloodletting activity on May 9, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., held at Science Building Rooms 102 & 104, which aimed to meet local blood supply needs while providing students with practical experience in donor care, health screening, and blood collection procedures.
The activity was conducted in coordination with the Lorenzo D. Zayco Kabankalan District Hospital (LDZDH) and the Negros First Blood Center, with committed hospital personnel who actively carried out donor screening, blood withdrawal, and monitoring, with professional medical supervision maintained throughout the event. The hospital provided all the necessary medical supplies, while the Medical Technology Council and students managed the food and flow of donors, ensuring adherence to strict health and safety protocols.
Moreover, the activity also offered free HIV testing with a symposium regarding its awareness, prevention, and control. This is in light with the hope to eradicate the stigma surrounding it, and to help the reduction of numbers being reactive with the virus.
Beyond mere fulfillment of academic requirements, the project also demonstrated the students' spirit of volunteerism and social responsibility. With 37 successful donors, the activity reflected the students’ dedication to public health and was made possible through the support of their medical technology instructors—all for the greater glory of God.
